Entries for the 2019 FSSO Youth Concerto Festival are open!

On 12 October 2019 the Youth Concerto Festival will once again be held in the Odeion, University of the Free State. Young singers and instrumentalists are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to perform with the Free State Symphony Orchestra a work of their choice. This is one of the many initiatives by the orchestra that promotes orchestral playing at the highest level for the young musicians, simultaneously enhancing professional capacity of these youngsters to enable job creation and sustainability of classical music for generations to come.
The closing date for all applications is 15 May 2019, and no late entries will be accepted. Auditions are set to take place on 1 June 2019 in Room 10, Odeion, UFS Campus, Bloemfontein. Travelling and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the candidates as well as the arrangements for their own accompanist. Instrumentalists are required to play one or two movements from a concerto or single movement work for solo instrument and orchestra, not exceeding 15 minutes, and singers must perform an aria or suitable part of a work for voice and orchestra.
Successful candidates must perform the same work at the concert as at the audition and must be available for rehearsals on 10 and 11 October 2019.

Entry forms are available from https://fsso.org.za/ and must be sent to Michelle Hetzel, HetzelM@ufs.ac.za and any enquiry contact the office on 051 401 2342.
