Ella Kotze, the secretary of the Odeion String Quartet (OSQ) and organiser of the FSSO, has decided to move to the Odeion School of Music OSM, UFS (OSM) as departmental secretary.
In filling this vacancy, the OSQ and FSSO have decided to restructure the position to that of Office Manager.
Main responsibilities:
• To organise and manage the smooth running of the shared office of the FSSO company (PBO) and the OSQ and provide managerial and administrative support to the heads of the FSSO and OSQ.
• To implement the FSSO and OSQ year plans with a small team of part-time staff responsible for financial administration, marketing and social media, youth orchestras, schools outreach, etc.
• To oversee marketing strategies and projects supported by the relevant staff.
The Odeion String Quartet Page, established in 1991, is the only resident string quartet at a South African university and performs regularly all across the country.
The Free State Symphony Orchestra, established in 1974, presents regular symphony and youth orchestra concerts as part of its music-educational pipeline activities. It is hosted at the Odeion by the University of the Free State and receives administrative and logistical support from the UFS.
