Mezzo-soprano, Teresa de Wit, obtained her Unisa Performer's Licentiate in 2009. She began her opera training as fellow of the Cape Town Opera Studio and was affiliated to Mimi Coertse's Black Tie Ensemble Opera Company. On two occasions she received masterclasses at the Mozarteum (Salzburg). Teresa regularly performs in operas, concerts and oratorio. Her most recent performances include the Verdi Gala Concert and Das Lied von der Erde of Mahler with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra.
More highlights include concerts in South Africa, Kenia, Nigeria, Windhoek and Zambia, as well as rolls in several operas and operettas, including Carmen, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville, Le Nozze di Figaro, Cosi fan Tutte, Cavalleria Rusticana, Martha, Alcina, The Bartered Bride, Hänsel und Gretel, Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, La Cenerentola, Die Fledermaus and Wiener Blut. Sacred works include The Messiah by Handel, Gloria of Vivaldi, C minor Mass of Mozart, Petite Messe Solenelle of Rosinni, the Mozart Requiem, Nelson Mass by Haydn, Feel the Spirit by Rutter and Stella Natalis and The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins. Since she moved to Kimberley in 2009, she completed her BMus and BMusHons (cum laude) at the University of the Free State. Teresa is currently enrolled for a MMus degree at the UFS.
