"Baba Yetu", the hit theme to Civilization IV - composed by Christopher Tinand featured on the double Grammy-winning album 'Calling All Dawns'. First video game piece to ever win a Grammy award, for "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)". Performed by the Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The song has also enjoyed a place in the Video Games Live show. "The fact that this song has had a life outside of the game is owed almost entirely to Video Games Live. They were the first to bring this music to concert stages around the world and to places I had never dreamed possible," composer Christopher Tin stated.
The words "Baba Yetu," mean "our father," and the song's lyrics are a Swahili translation of the Lord's Prayer.
This famous composition is one of the many popular game theme music to be performed by the FSSO at Free State's first ever video gaming music concert on 8 September at University of the Free State's Kopanong Auditorium.
