2018 marks the centenary celebration of Nelson Mandela, and the Odeion String Quartet honours the late statesman with a musical tribute on the combination of his prison number 466/64. This amalgamation will comprise of works in a musical combination that attribute to each number, namely a quartet and sextet. Excerpts from sextets by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and quartets by Stimpson and van Dijk will be performed.
The performers will share anecdotes on what they interpret the music may mean and represent from Mandela`s life.
