Born in South Africa,Christine Crouse is the Artistic Director of Cape Town Opera. She is a renowned director who has directed opera extensively in the major theatres in South Africa as well as abroad. 

She directed many opera productions including Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Aida (Verdi), Der Rosenkavalier (R. Strauss), Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), Il trittico (Puccini), Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Der fliegende Hollander (Wagner), La traviata, Nabucco (Verdi), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten), Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss), La bohème (Puccini) and many others.

Christine is currently working on the The Merry Widow opera, an annual initiative of the Odeion School of Music OSM, UFS and Free State Symphony Orchestra to revive opera in the Free State, and to provide an opportunity for students to perform, simultaneously building their professional capacity.

The show premieres at the Bloemfonteim Civic Theatre on the 3rd of August 2018 7:30pm, with a repeat of the production on the 4th of August.
