Thabang was born in Bloemfontein. In 2003 he passed an audition for
the Black Tie Ensemble’s “Incubator” Scheme. He received vocal training
from Eric Muller and was adopted by Sappi for the past eight years. In
2004 he sang the role of the Seargeant for the Black Tie Ensemble (BTE)
production of Puccini’s La Bohème.
In 2005 he sang the role of Marco for BTE’s production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. In 2006 he sang the role Monterone in Opera Africa’s production of Verdi’s Rigoletto
In 2007, after finishing his studies in the Incubator Scheme, Thabang joined The Black Tie Ensemble. At the end of July 2008 Thabang performed in the expert - Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi

Enseble production of Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow. Thabang
participated, in July at the 28th International Hans Gabor Belvedere
Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria. He was also chosen to be one of
the five soloists at the Renée Flemming master class in August 2009.
In 2010 he sang the role of Schaunard in Opera Africa’s production of La Bohème by Puccini. Thabang has presented the role of Germont in the Act II Vignette of La traviatra and sang the role of Gill in Susanna’s Secret by Wolf-Ferrari in March 2011 after which he was a member of the cast of Winnie The Opera, in April 2011.In August 2011 Thabang sang the role of Enrico in BTE’s Lucia di Lammermoor Opera Vignette Production.
In April 2012 he participated in the Verdi Gala in Bloemfontein at PACOFS with the BTE VO1SS. In October 2012 he sang the role of Escamillo in the production of Carmen in Nelspruit.
In 2014 he played the lead role of Nelson Mandela in the Opera, Madiba the African Opera at the South African State Theatre.In 2015 he toured Denmark mark doing concerts in Copenhagen, Vestermolle and other neigbourning towns. In the very same tour he recorded a live CD with the people he toured with. Then he came back to do the leading role in Madiba The African Opera. In 2016 he did the role of Leporello in Mozart's Don Giovanni for Pretoria Symphonic Orchestra. And early this year 2017 he did the very same role for Salon Music at Brooklyn Theatre. He recently did the role of Sagristano in Puccini's Tosca for Pretoria Symphonic Orchestra at Pretoria State Theatre. In July 2017 he did the role of Marquise in Verdi's La Traviata.
