Maruping was born in 1991 in Thaba N`chu and attended the Moroka High School there. During his school years he was a student of Mr Eddie Motlhakoane from the FS Musicon. After school he briefly studied commerce at the CUT before enrolling for a Diploma in music at the Odeion School of Music.
He studied with Petrus van Heerden for three years. Since obtaining his diploma he is a member of the Voice Laboratory and receives specialised training from Hans Potgieter. He has sung as a soloist with many choirs throughout South Africa, most notably the CUT-Choir, Bel Canto Voices and the University of Swaziland Choir in important festivals such as the Old Mutual National Choir Festival.
In 2016 he was the winner of the Musicon Singing Competition. He also obtained the third prize in the prestigious Voices of South Africa (Amazwi Omzansi) competition. These platforms have enabled him to receive Master Classes from Prof Kamal Khan and Njabulo Mdladla as well as coaching by leading British repetiteurs in the opera industry.
Maruping is invited to the final stages of the ATKV Muziqanto Competition in September, and will be a guest artist at the 2017 edition of Voices of South Africa.
He will be singing his heart out on Saturday, 2 September 2017 at the Youth Concerto Festival
